April 7   Tooele Utah to Winnemucca, Nevada    11C and a bit overcast - smell moisture in air as we are next to Great Salt Lake - on our way West we passed by a Morton salt plant on the salt plains - area is flat and arid - sagebrush and salt. Salt flats as far as the eye can see, stopped to take photos of  a salt lake - no that is NOT ice on the surface - that is salt!!!!

I also took some closeups - one is of a rock that is in the water - it is covered in salt crystals - the other is just the shore and water - not sand bottom but salt crystals
Very desolate area saw the Bonneville Salt Flats

Just crossed into Nevada place called West Wendover - first thing we see are casinos and green grass and trees starting to leaf - but just wait a second - the grass on the blvd looks tooooo green - yep fake grass
We went through a 1/4 mile long tunnel through a mountain, as well as snow sheds - made it to Winnemucca where high winds have created quite the dust storm - whenyou look at anything it looks like there is a haze - nope dust.  Interesting tidbit - at interchanges in the none city and town areas, at the entrance to the entrance ramp are cattle grids - don't always see cattle but they are out there grazing on the thousands of acres of sage brush.

Off to California tomorrow via the Donner Pass.
