April 8  Winnemucca, Nevada to Vacaville, California

4 C windy, wet snow overnight, mountains now covered in snow - saw tumbleweed rolling down the main drag of Winnemucca as we ate breakfast - headed out with strong wind pushing us around - 2 C  surrounded by snow covered mountains and prairie - wet sage brush (snow melting a bit) has an incredible perfume - they should bottle it.  In Spike, Nevada see cottonwood trees, med pink flowering crab and another white flowering tree - Reno was a blur as we avoided going into the city but did see lots of Casinos- stopped at Cabela's just before California state line. Took a photo from parking lot
Going up into the Sierra Nevada Range - it looks just like home with lots of pine and cedar - Happy Dance as we are now surrounded by trees!!!  never realized how much we missed them.  Saw Lodge pole pine, Ponderosa Pine, cedar.

Check out the pine cone George found

Saw Donner Lake

At Donner Summit it was snowing slightly

As we came out of the mountains the temperature shot up and suddenly we were in summer 21 C.  Saw palm trees, grass needing to be cut, flowers in full bloom, trees all leafed up.

We made it to Californy - now the fun begins.
